So, Lost. Yeah, that show that ran from 2004 to 2010? Right, that one. I never got to watch it. Nope, I tried watching the season premiere of either season 2 or 3 but I was… well… lost. So I figured one day I’d catch it in re-runs.

Thanks to amazon streaming video that comes with my Prime membership, I am finally getting that opportunity. I see why people wouldn’t shut-up about this show. :)

I’m on episode 18 now. Love being able to watch these on either my laptop or the Kindle and completely without commercials or other ads. Unless I have a crappy internet connection, which apparently happens sometimes at the community center, the videos play seamlessly and without interruption.

So now I’m not so lost anymore.

I know I’m behind the times on a lot of things, but I think I love doing it this way. I did this with Harry Potter. Only read the books last year, and watched the movies. Like Lost, it’s hard to jump into the middle of the story with that one. When I’d already missed the first one, then the second, I avoided all the others until I got a chance to start at the beginning. I ended up borrowing books and buying used DVDs. I read the book then watched the DVD with Elijah and, often, Sarah. Nice doing it that way, I can just move from one to the next, no waiting! Did the same thing with The Hunger Games.

So, yay, me. Ha, that’s all that’s new right now…

So I guess I’ve got what Kayleigh had. Might be what Kayleigh has, because even though she’s not throwing up, she’s still having some nasty diapers and doesn’t seem to have her full appetite back yet.

This.

Sucks.

Bad.

Thank God for Stacey who’s come to take care of us today. Elijah is also complaining from time to time that he feels sick. I’m only up right now because Stacey ran to the store and K wanted to get out of her pack and play and run around on the floor. Thankfully she is being good (as long as Elijah stays out of her way) so right now all I have to do is sit here on the love seat and feel nauseous.

However, Elijah is watching Max & Ruby and I have a few complaints.

1.. Max is a little brat who can’t do what he’s told.

2. Ruby is a dirty hypocrite.

3. In what universe does a new pair of kid’s overalls cost only $5?

and most importantly: 4. WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS!?

I hate this show.

And I’m grumpy today.

What a stupid joke.

As we speak, Nickelodeon has gone off the air for 3 hours while they just tell you that it’s the worldwide day of play and that you should (also) shut down your computer and go outside and play… “we are, too!”

What a joke. Kids who can and want to be outside playing, they already are! Those that don’t want to, uhhh they’re just changing the channel… like we did. E can’t play outside now, Daddy is out there roofing on the garage. Despite the beautiful day, I can’t take him to a park or something right now, K’s down for her nap and I have way too much work here in the house to do. ALSO, not to mention, he’s suffering from allergies right now. Poor kid.

Really, I mean, sure, encourage kids to go outside and play all you want but going off the air is just ridiculous. I’m sure it’s raining somewhere. I’m sure some kids live in bad neighborhoods or don’t have yards or for whatever other reasoncan’t go outside. Rubbing that fact in their faces just upsets them. But whatever, Nick, whatever you want to do, it IS your station, after all. It just really seems pointless to me. Especially when my kid just flips it to somewhere else for the meantime… (Not to mention, Nick and NickW aren’t coordinated so NickW is going strong.)

Not that he’s going to watch TV all day but he usually does – on Saturday – when K is napping. House is too small, there’s really not much else to do since he can’t go outside today. He’s already spent the morning being creative, I think he deserves some TV if that’s what he wants.

So the other day, I decided to clean out the entertainment center. It wasn’t really messy but it was full of VHS tapes that haven’t seen the light of day in a long, long time. A LOT of VHS tapes! We started three piles: keep, donate, pitch. I found movies in there that we have since acquired on DVD and even movies that we have since seen so many times on TV that we now detest. Most of the tapes are made up of stuff recorded off of TV. Really, I think we were the last people we know to get a DVD player, surprisingly enough. The VCR was a wedding present. When it dies, though, I’m not replacing it. In the meantime, we are keeping a small selection of tapes, including things that came from a camcorder when I was in high school and a few tapes of Steve’s football games.

I’ve started going through the tapes that we had once recorded that I thought we might want to keep. Some of these are so bad there’s nothing to do but throw away, they’re all static. Some of these are in great condition.

So now I’m sitting here watching the Addams Family… the ORIGINAL, the GOOD, not those silly movies, the original show… and the family is trying to teach Lurch to dance. Besides this marathon from a few years ago on TVLand, I can’t remember the last time I saw this show on TV.

There’s a ton of junk on TV now, why can’t anyone show the good stuff anymore? Who cares if it is in black and white? Nothing beats it. The Addams Family, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie, Green Acres, Leave it to Beaver, etc. Not to mention stuff from the 80′s even, like Mama’s Family and The Carol Burnett Show. The only one I ever see on anymore is the Andy Griffith Show. Meh, I guess I’m just mad at TVLand and their stupid “reality” shows that seem to have taken over their airwaves.

Now to see which of these are on DVD. Not that I can afford anything right now, but hey, I can add them to my wishlist. :P

Oh, I’m also proud of my organizational skills. I bought some plastic drawers to put inside the entertainment center’s two cabinets. There are two drawers in each of the two cabinets and they fit perfectly… after I took off the door magnets! Then they slid in and I screwed the magnets back on so the doors will actually stay shut. Now, throwing out or getting rid of most of these tapes, I also have at least one of the larger drawers for my yarn which is overflowing out of it’s basket. I will even have room for my scrapbooks of recent years to be in a decent place! I figure with neither of us finding any work, we’re not going to be moving anytime soon, so we might as well make this closet we call a house work… again.

I’m sorry, I just find it really funny that Obama’s commercial sings that McCain doesn’t know what’s up with gas prices when his own solution is to inflate our tires and get more tune-ups to help with fuel mileage.

I’m just sayin’!

I’m already tired of all the political mud-slinging. For once, I’d like to see a commercial where a candidate says what they stand for instead of attempting to make their opponent look bad. They are ALL “the pot calling the kettle…” Well, I guess there is one Missouri-specific race in which I’ve seen one of the parties do things the proper way, but for the most part, the mud-slinging has begun!

And so have the surveys. I hung up on one the other day, the caller ID said literally 0000000000 and once she started in on me with a political survey (when she sounded like she wasn’t even in this freaking country), I hung up. They then proceeded to call me three more times at all hours of the day until I finally answered and went through the bloody survey.

I’m now waiting for the mailings to begin. Oh, wait, they have. Well, more fuel for the fire.

And now, let the mud-slinging begin on here… ’cause I know it’s bound to come now. Place nice, kiddos.

So who’s watching American Idol this year? It’s not nearly as interesting for me as it used to be but we’re still watching, though I’ve also not fretted if I’ve missed a showing either.

But I have one thing to say for tonight:

PLEASE get rid of Danny Noriega! How dare he butcher the Great Elvis’ song like that!! I swear, I almost fainted. Plus, he’s just plain annoying. Can we say “Drama Queen”? :P

Also, this guy Luke Menard? They said he’s 29. Last year I KNOW they said the cut-off was 28 (when that elderly man sang). What’s up with that? I don’t have a problem with that, of course, just wondering why they would have, obviously, made a change. And no, I’m not so into it that I visit the websites and stuff. :P

Ugh. Now this Colton guy has to go, too. Granted he didn’t butcher his Elvis song as bad as the other guy, but sheesh.
