A few minutes ago, Elijah came to me and said, “Pleaaaaaase, watch Wonder Pets? Pleaaaassssseeee!?!?!?” I had to sigh and say okay since I had not been proactive and the show was already starting.

Ahem.

I. Hate. This. Show.

Now, if you have never heard of this, it’s called Wonder Pets! and it’s about three baby animals, a guinea pig, a duckling, and a turtle, that go around saving other baby animals that are in trouble. Sounds cute… but… ev.er.y.thing they say is in a sing-song voice and/or part of a song AND in baby-talk. It drives me freaking crazy.

The animation is kinda scary, too, the animals look almost real but the rest of it is more like a drawing. It’s kind of freaky, really.

But Elijah loves it. I told him he could watch it if he sat down on the couch and he’s been there the whole time, the last 15 minutes, with his “BobBob” (Spongebob) blankey, absorbed in the show. Just enamored. Now he’s starting to discuss the show with himself. The Wonder Pets just saved a baby reindeer and he’s probably remembering the Go, Diego, Go episode he just watched where they saved a bunch of reindeer and Santa’s sleigh and Santa, blah, blah, blah. I wasn’t too happy about that – we don’t “do” Santa and flying reindeer in this household – but the kid loves the show so I let it slide this time.

The biggest problem with this show? The stupid songs get stuck in my head!!

Linny… Tuck… and Ming-Ming, too!

Oh, well. He likes it, I guess that’s what is important. Especially since I will only be subjected to it occasionally, when I am too slow to turn off the tv or change the channel before it comes on.

Why do I feel like I’ve written this post before??

The Cardinal’s-Tiger’s game, game 4 of the World Series, is currently under rain delay. It is another one of those days where it rained allllll freaking day. But because of this rain delay, they are showing this show called “The War at Home.” I’ve never seen this show before, heck, I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of it before.

However, I have one thing to say…

It sucks!!!!

There is some really baaaaaaad acting in there, I am almost to the point of puking. But constant checking back to see if the game is on is pointless, so… whatever. However I say that a show with that title alone should be banned in all nations. I guess this is why we’re being subjected to this show, the reruns must be cheap to air or something.

Along a similar note, I think I must disown my very own mother. Just yesterday I find out that she not only watches The Office but thinks it’s funny!

Oh the horror! The absolute horror!

Heresy, I say, heresy!!!

I used to use the phrase “psycho demon” a lot, mostly when referring to our friend/neighbor’s cat. I bring it up again to discuss my upstairs television set.

Some of you remember this television as the one that would turn itself off, or the sound wouldn’t work, or that you had to do the combination restart of unplugging, plugging it back in, hitting it twice, turning it on, then doing the mute, hold volume for what seemed like three minutes until everything worked.

Well, it finally died.

I was watching something one night when it turned itself off. I went through the restart dance and when I turned it on, it started buzzing. All it does now is buzz at me. This was all not long after the picture went out completely. (That worked well, actually, for a little while I had a tv that moonlighted as a radio. I’d turn on the Sirius and with no picture, there was no glowing tv keeping me awake…)

On one hand, I am happy. Now, I don’t have to deal with the stupid thing being on when I want to go to sleep or the fact that it really annoyed me that if I wanted to change the channel I had to go downstairs to the satellite system. Nor will it keep me up even later at night while I watch Cheers or will I have to listen to Steve banging it when it goes out.

On the other hand, this is not a good thing. This means Steve is now shopping for a new tv.

So I can’t sleep right now, due to reasons I dun’t wanna discuss.
I’m tired though, I may go back upstairs in a minute.

Today [Friday] the satellite guy came. He actually came early, 2 1/2 hours early, that’s probably a first for installation guys lol. He hooked us up pretty quickly… After looking in the basement and saying,
“So, your husband’s an electrician?”
“Yes.”
“Couldn’t tell.”
LOL
I knew he said that because our wiring down there is old and… well, messy. It drives Steve crazy, but we haven’t had the time or money to change out the service yet. It’s gonna take him $$ for a new panel and stuff and a day off work (unless we want to be without electricity all weekend because the company will have to shut off power for him to do this. So he would have to take a day off, have them shut off the power inthe morning, work all day, and make sure they get it back on before they close in the early evening).
I told Steve what the guy said and he laughed and said something about working on everyone else’s houses but not his own.
So now my life is no longer VHS, DVD, CD only, but now includes regular tv again and HBO. :-) Although we’re not sure why we have that, I guess it’s a promo or something, probably won’t last long.
But this is good. There is an MXC marathon coming on on Monday. :-D

What else?
Um… went to Walmart and did crap. Got Elijah’s new carseat. Hope this works out well. Though he’s really heavy and hard to carry in it, we’ll no longer have the baby carrier to carry him around in, or put on the shopping carts.
Steve wants to buy a new tv. There is a 31 inch for sale for just under $200. We’re thinking maybe lay-away might be good for that. We never did it until this carseat and it worked out great. For those of you who don’t know, our tv of 3.5 years died in January. It was a rather large, old tv that was in one of it’s own set-ups, so we didn’t need a console. Now we have our “upstairs” tv down here and it’s smaller and needs a console. So it’s sitting on the “coffee table.” The coffee table is actually a no-cedar chest. I guess it works out, cause now there’s more room in the middle of the room and if Elijah ever starts crawling, he won’t bump into that chest… hopefully. So that’s my messed-up house.

Anyway, here I am babbling on about nothing. I guess if I’m gonna be up I might as well go work on something productive….
