Last Friday, leaving the hospital, I saw some flowering trees that I don’t think were redbuds but they had pretty pinkish purplish flowers.

Here’s a magnolia tree I saw in town:

Talk about beautiful! I was really impressed with it’s fullness and size. There are some I’ve seen that are just as big but have hardly any flowers.

Here’s my magnolia tree:

Mine’s obviously younger. We planted it maybe the second year we lived here. It was just a stick then. Seriously. Ha.

So the other day we got caught outside by Neighbor Lady and as we stood there talking to her, she was asking us if the magnolia was a tree or a bush, or what. Well, duh, it’s a magnolia, it’s a TREE. “Oh, well then,” she says, “you should have cut off the lower branches when it was smaller.”

Uh, lady, mind your own magnolia!

Okay it’s just a small rant. I get tired of her telling us what to do, how to garden; especially when our plants are clearly thriving.

I wonder if she wonders why she hasn’t seen me since probably August 2007 or before, even…

Yesterday was Easter and it was colder than it was on Christmas day! That’s completely unreal!

However, I am very happy that all my plants seem to be okay. Even the gladiolas I planted a few weeks ago are coming up nicely, earlier than I expected. I haven’t had a chance to check on the sunflowers though, I’ve been incredibly busy, have hardly been at home at all.

I’ll have Easter photos for y’all soon, but for now, how about a few flowers?

Well, I guess I can anyway. I’ve been watching my lilac bush daily, waiting for it to blossom and smell good and finally in between yesterday and today we have beautiful lilac flowers. On this, my little sister’s birthday. :-) Care to watch their progress with me?

So I was going to write about the new vehicle and all, but I think I’ll just wait until tomorrow when I can get some photos of it. Because that’s how I am.

Instead, I regale you with a few photos I took today.

I love these bushes, especially when they’re well cared for and have consistent flowers up and down the branches and are nicely shaped. :) It’s too bad that my dad wasn’t paying attention one fall day when theirs was out of bloom and mowed it right over, leaving it never to return…

I sure am finding it hard to sit still, either way, unless I’m sleeping. I’m very behind in my email, once again. Well, anyway, there are many signs of spring and I’m already loving capturing them in digital bliss… Yes, even the weeds!
