Last Friday, leaving the hospital, I saw some flowering trees that I don’t think were redbuds but they had pretty pinkish purplish flowers. And I thought… wow, I wish I had my camera. Not that my chauffeur extraordinaire (Mom) would have stopped for me right there. Just wishing I could get out and shoot…

The other day I got a chance to shoot some photos of my friend’s five-month-old baby. She’s so cute and I love how many of them turned out!

While we were there, I also did some school pics for Sarah:

And I tried to do some of Elijah:

I think by now you all know how he is. :P It took me all day but I finally got one that I like:

But that’s still not our photo to be used for Christmas cards. I got another idea for those!!

Well this post has been 3 days in the making, I’ve just never found the time to finish it so I’m just going to stop talking and press Publish, after posting this little bit of fun:

Sarah informs me that she wants a blog and a photoblog and she doesn’t want to be hosted at any of the domains I have that are lying around not doing anything. :P Silly girl. (Sarah is 10, for those of you who are unsure.)

So, from the words she gave me, the following are available, which do you all like?

thebanana.us *

The Banana. Okay, let me explain that…

When I was working with the youth at that little church we were at… okay real descriptive here, I know. Anyway, I took the kids to the Planet Wisdom Student Conference in the Fall of 2001. We stayed over night in St. Charles (a bit north of St. Louis) and, of course, at 1am I was as crazy as the girls.

For some reason, I started referring to them all as “Fruity Tales” (you know, a play on “Veggie Tales”) and they all ended up being assigned a Fruity Tales name. I took their middle name and then judging by hair color, assigned a fruit.

I was Nikki the Pomegrante… I still think I can’t spell that right. Anyway, because I had reddish hair at the time. And one of the girls already had Nicole (although I am Nichole) so I was Nikki, something I’ve actually been called before.

Anyway, Sarah, the youngest on the trip (though she didn’t stay overnight with us, but arrived the next day) was the only one allowed to use her first name because another girl already had Sarah’s middle name as a fruit. Because of her blonde hair, Sarah became Sarah the Banana.

She thinks she’s so funny at wanting “Banana” in a domain name. This was also spurred on today by Gwen Steffani’s Hollaback Girl which we’d just heard on the radio. Edited version, of course. Oh the eyes that girl would give me if she heard the unedited version. Ha.

So we also had:

Milly the Cherry (Sheila Mildred: she had this bright red colored hairspray on at the time. DO NOT tell her I told you this, either, she will kill me! ;))
Marie the Strawberry (Elizabeth)
Jean the Kiwi (brunette)
Nicole the Tangerine (had this bright orange colored hairspray on)
William the Coconut (he has practically white hair)
Dani the Blackberry (Dani from Danielle)
Ann the Pineapple
Sue the Mango
and two boys whom I cannot remember their middle names or fruits!

:D

Now, as for “Concrete Angel” I am not sure. I guess she just likes the song and doesn’t understand what is meant by “Concrete Angel” in that song…
