Steve and I each have a craigslist.com listing right now, we’ve both got something to sell. I’ve never sold anything on craigslist before so maybe this is common practice, but I find it highly annoying.

We’ve now received a total of five inquiries, two for me, three for him. Three of those emails have basically said, “Do you still have [item]? Then call me at [phone number].”

Ok, now maybe it’s me, but, I think that if I wanted to talk to these people on the phone, I’d have left a phone number where they could call us. But I didn’t, I purposely only left the craigslist protected email. For instance, the one in my inbox now, is for Steve. I actually Googled the phone number and was able to find out a decent amount out about the guy but, well, that doesn’t matter, that’s just interesting, haha. Anyway, he wants Steve to call him. Steve has no time. That email’s been there for about a day and a half to two days now with no response. Whereas, had the guy just asked me his questions, I could have maybe even already known the answer and emailed out a response right away.

Steve says something to the effect of this being a classified ad and if it were in the newspaper we’d have left a phone number. That’s true, but these are the online classifieds where I left an email address! So I’m finding it really rude that these people are immediately trying to put any type of phone responsibility on me. It’s especially rude because, the one woman I called last Saturday, I talked to her and she was really interested and wanted to talk to me more about getting the item come Monday or whatever. Wednesday finally rolled around and I called her again and left a voicemail and said that if I didn’t hear by Friday, I’d assume she didn’t want it anymore. She’s not called back and it’s Saturday. I find that incredibly rude, too, I mean, I don’t care if she doesn’t want it anymore, just tell me, you know?

I’m not saying that a phone conversation later on isn’t appropriate if you need to iron out details for the actual selling, but for them to just start out with having me to call them just doesn’t sit well with me. Of course, I feel obligated to make the calls because I do want to sell the stuff, so I guess there’s really nothing I can do about it.

Ok, just wanted to rant. :)

When we were at the circus last Thursday, they took a twenty minute intermission to set up the tiger cage, and a lot of people filed out to use the bathroom, get snacks, and what not. Elijah and I stayed put and I was leaning over, talking to him, my head sort of down. Leaning towards my left, towards the direction the people were coming from. From out of the corner of my eye, I see one of Steve’s first cousins.

When they got closer, they walked right in front of us. I said “hi” and waved to the two boys who are something like age five and three. Then I looked up at his cousin and smiled and said, “hi.”

She looked down at me, gave me this… not even a half of a smile, more like a smirk, and turned away.

When she came back through, I was again looking to the left so this time I didn’t really see her coming at all. But it didn’t matter, she flew through with the boys and didn’t even say a word to me. The second time through she could have stopped and chatted five minutes or longer, even just to say, “hi, how you doing?” I would have asked her about her pregnancy, she’s like hugely pregnant now. But nothing. Not even a smirk that time, just blatant rudeness.

So now I’m left to wonder what’s got her panties in a bunch. She used to be nice to me, I wonder why she’s suddenly such a snob. She was also one of the ones who ignored us at that wedding (well the reception, since they didn’t think it important enough to show up to the actual wedding) in August. Anyone remember that? That was such a stupid mess, Steve and his dad, especially, were just fuming. I haven’t even seen her since November, since Grandma’s birthday luncheon, I don’t think, if she was even there (she may have been working). She was also one of Steve’s best friends in high school – they were in the same grade and such. So now what’s her deal?

As much as it may seem to be the opposite, I’m not really letting it bother me. At the time I was just like, what, the, heck? But now, I guess it’s just further proof of what certain others have been saying all along. We can only figure it’s because we’re not Catholic. Whatever. I guess I’m just blindsided because, like I mentioned before, she didn’t used to be like that. Or maybe I just didn’t notice it before?

One of her brothers and his wife, too. I remember talking to his wife when Elijah was really tiny, at some holiday gathering. She was really nice, but since then, not so much. When I ran into them at the store during Christmas shopping time, I chatted with them but later felt really stupid, like I’d said something extremely dumb. But then I realized that if I’d said anything stupid it was because I was expected to carry conversation alone. It’s not me, it was them.

I guess it might also bother me because I would never dream of treating anyone, especially family, like that. I mean, treat others as you want to be treated, right? The extended family through Steve’s mom is really large, though, and thank goodness they’re not all like that. But if any of them ever wonder why none of us ever come to the Christmas Eve stuff, but visit his grandmother on another day every year… I’d think it should be painfully obvious.

So I like to sometimes sit back and play a game of Gin or Dominoes or something while E is [supposed to be] taking a nap, etc.

The thing I don’t understand, though, is what the heck is wrong with people. For instance, I just played this chick, usmc198…something, doesn’t matter. Anyway, when the game was over, she typed all in caps: “LEARN TO SPEED IT UP SLOW ASS” and I was like, what the heck!?

When I am playing people, especially people who I don’t KNOW and have with me on IM, too, I do my best to make sure I take my turn in a timely manner. As soon as I hear that noise that lets me know it’s my turn, I take my turn. If I have to go away for a second to grab a soda or see to something, the phone rings, whatever, I let the person know.

But apparently, this chick, and several others, can’t be bothered to wait five seconds between turns. I mean, my point is, I am not slow, lol. They expect it to be their turn immediately after taking their last turn. Right?

Just makes me wonder what makes people not only so impatient these days, but so rude. That chick I quoted was tame, when considering some others. But I guess I should not be surprised she was rude, her name on her profile is literally “Ms. Thang.” Not to mention I wiped the floor with her. :P

So, the moral of today’s story is: don’t be a jerk. :)
