What a stupid joke.

As we speak, Nickelodeon has gone off the air for 3 hours while they just tell you that it’s the worldwide day of play and that you should (also) shut down your computer and go outside and play… “we are, too!”

What a joke. Kids who can and want to be outside playing, they already are! Those that don’t want to, uhhh they’re just changing the channel… like we did. E can’t play outside now, Daddy is out there roofing on the garage. Despite the beautiful day, I can’t take him to a park or something right now, K’s down for her nap and I have way too much work here in the house to do. ALSO, not to mention, he’s suffering from allergies right now. Poor kid.

Really, I mean, sure, encourage kids to go outside and play all you want but going off the air is just ridiculous. I’m sure it’s raining somewhere. I’m sure some kids live in bad neighborhoods or don’t have yards or for whatever other reasoncan’t go outside. Rubbing that fact in their faces just upsets them. But whatever, Nick, whatever you want to do, it IS your station, after all. It just really seems pointless to me. Especially when my kid just flips it to somewhere else for the meantime… (Not to mention, Nick and NickW aren’t coordinated so NickW is going strong.)

Not that he’s going to watch TV all day but he usually does – on Saturday – when K is napping. House is too small, there’s really not much else to do since he can’t go outside today. He’s already spent the morning being creative, I think he deserves some TV if that’s what he wants.

Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. are soooooo getting on my nerves. I get all sorts of email from them and I decided I was tired of it not to mention I’m eventually porting everything over to my new/better email address. Yes, I did originally sign up for the emails, but sheesh, I have put in an unsubscribe request seven times. Seven! (Update, make that ten.) I know this because their emails say at the bottom to hit reply and put “unsubscribe” in the subject line. I’ve done this seven times because each time, the strange email address which is composed of some letters and numbers followed by my email address at some Nickelodeon domain has been saved to my address book each time as my address book is set to save every outgoing email address to a special book.

Someone want to tell me why they’re ignoring my requests?

Get it through your thick skull, Nickelodeon, I don’t want your millions of emails anymore!! Nor the emails of your partners!

This last email does say you can reply to unsubscribe or contact MTV Networks at 1515 Broadway; 40th Floor; New York, New York 10036… but no email address. What the heck!?

Okay… I guess I’ll be going into my SBCglobal box on the server and marking all of these as spam now so that Yahoo will send them to the bulk mail folder and I won’t even have to download the emails anymore… I also guess I’ll make sure I never sign up with them for anything in the future.

Die, Nickelodeon, die!!

Cracks me up everytime… I love it!!

Unfortunately, April 1st is the day of my first fair, so I guess I will have to miss Jack Black on the Nickelodeon Kid Choice Awards.

But then again, that’s probably for the best. Taking a look at the celebrities and etc that these kids are voting on, I’m appalled. A lot of these are people and things that kids shouldn’t even be listening to or seeing in the first place!! Mostly I’m thinking of these categories:

Favorite Movie Actor
Jim Carrey (Fun with Dick and Jane)
Johnny Depp (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
Ice Cube (Are We There Yet?)
Will Smith (Hitch)

Favorite Movie Actress
Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four)
Drew Barrymore (Fever Pitch)
Dakota Fanning (Dreamer)
Lindsay Lohan (Herbie: Fully Loaded)

Favorite Song
“Hollaback Girl” (Gwen Stefani)
“Wake Me Up When September Ends” (Green Day)
“We Belong Together” (Mariah Carey)
“1, 2 Step” (Ciara)

Favorite Male Singer
Bow Wow
Jesse McCartney
Nelly
Will Smith

Favorite Female Singer
Mariah Carey
Kelly Clarkson
Hilary Duff
Alicia Keys

Favorite Music Group
Backstreet Boys
Black Eyed Peas
Destiny’s Child
Green Day

Favorite Television Actor
Drake Bell (Drake & Josh)
Ashton Kutcher (That 70s Show, Punk’d)
Bernie Mac (The Bernie Mac Show)
Romeo (Romeo!)

Favorite Television Actress
Eve (Eve)
Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer)
Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey 101)
Raven Symone (That’s So Raven)

Hollaback Girl!? Need I say more? Seriously.

Seems like everyone’s out to piss me off today and it’s not even 10am yet. Let’s see… who’s frustrating me?

Fujifilm
Looks like I’m going to be without my digital camera for about four weeks. Not long ago my camera started shutting itself off for no reason and it’s getting worse. It might happen right after I turn it on or right before I take a picture, or right after I take a picture, or right after I press the button to review pictures, or in today’s case: about 30 times while trying to get it to discharge the batteries. I have taken good care of the batteries and the camera itself, I don’t get it.
So I finally called Fujifilm today (they’ve ignored two emails from me to their tech support department), and all they will tell me is their address – I waited on hold for 25 minutes to get their stupid address to where I am supposed to send in my camera for them to look at it and hopefully fix it. To me, this is just a stupid solution, but I guess it’s really the only thing that can be done, as they have no repair locations in Missouri, but it pisses me off nonetheless.
This means that for the next three or four weeks I have to either use the cell phone only or the 35mm… which means I have to go buy film. I won’t be able to take many or decent photos at the five fairs we have coming up now. If it doesn’t come back to me fixed by my friend’s wedding on November 26, I’m really going to be angry… *sigh*

Yahoo
What else is new? I am sick and tired of the stupid Javascript errors that keep popping up in my email and keep me from reading some messages, deleting any messages, moving any messages, etc. And we all know that their tech support is run by people who don’t actually read the emails they get, so, I’m stuck here. I am really considering moving to Gmail for all my mail but I don’t want to because there are still some limitations there for external addresses (doesn’t reply from that address, changes to default, for one).

Nickelodeon Jr.
Last night I had to go in Walmart with my family to show them how to get prints of the lovely pictures I took of my sister from my memory card. Elijah started freaking out and after a few minutes I realized why. He could see the VHS rack with Dora the Explorer tapes on it. So, yeah, we ended up buying one. Some Cowgirl Dora or something. He held that thing all the way home, I was surprised he stayed awake, we got home at nearly 11pm.
Now the reason Nick Jr ticked me off today – this is a tape for a preschooler and/or young child, right? Then why the heck is there ten minutes of previews on there!? Elijah freaked out as I fast forwarded through them, he wanted Dora NOW. Why can’t they put previews on after the feature? Please?

Windows XP
I really hate that the “new folder” button is right next to the “go up one level” button…

Spammers
They are constantly crawling my site… even as I speak. I just deleted 118 spam comments and that doesn’t count the emails from OSA that it has deleted over a hundred just since yesterday afternoon. Each day I have more to delete. Well, at least they’re not getting on the blog, but still. I had to turn off the “email me when there’s a comment to moderate” feature because it was just overloading me. So if any person gets a moderated comment, they’re out of luck, because they’re all getting marked as spam, I don’t have time to go through all those comments and see what’s not spam and what is, not when 99.9% of them will be spam for sure…

Husbands
And finally I am angry at Steve because he refuses to buy me a dishwasher. Excuse me while I go wash some dishes…

(Okay so that sounded worse than I meant it, I’m not really mad at him. We don’t have room for a dishwasher. But I still wish I had one…)

When I was little, I LOVED the Mr. Rogers show. Loved it, loved him. Anyway, I remember this one little segment he had about how crayons were made. Anyone else remember that? If I remember correctly, he narrated it as you were shown a factory and older people walked around making crayons – they colored and poured the wax and took them out of the mold and had them papered and put into boxes, etc.

It was that segment that made me decide I wanted to be a crayon maker. My mom says it’s the first thing I wanted to “be when I grow up.” Of course, what would later follow was a plethora of other occupations, but that was the first. I wanted to make crayons.

Today, watching Noggin with Elijah while he ate breakfast, I saw that same clip again. It’s almost the same – same older people, same color crayon, same 70′s factory clothes, same ‘storyline’ – the only thing I noticed that is different is that it’s now narrated by that moose character that hosts Noggin.

So, yes, I was mesmerized. :)

Also mesmerizing was that commercial for that new Nickelodeon (Jr.) show Lazy Town? Something about that thing just sucked me in, which is funny because I don’t usually pay any attention to commercials after I’ve seen them the first time. But this one just sucked me in and I was like a three year old staring at Barney. I think it’s the girl in the pink hair, she’s really cute. It’s not those little puppet people, they are freaky. But Elijah doesn’t even notice the commercial, he squeals when he sees Dora the Explorer or Blue’s Clues shows or commercials, but none others. He pays attention to SpongeBob, but doesn’t squeal for it like he does the other two.

Heh. So this is my life.
Watching Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer with Elijah during the late mornings. How pathetic is it when the new love of my life is a guy named Donovan who goes by Joe and wears sweaters of the same pattern but different colors every day? Of course, you’ve gotta admire him. Anyone that can make a real ass outta himself in front of a camera crew and a green screen must be pretty dang special.

Of course, they did this really cool editing thing for the 100th Episode show. Well I thought it was really cool. And I wish I had it on DVD so I could show it to you. But I don’t. So I can’t.

Yeah and after messing around a bit on the internet, I find that the first BCs guy, Steve, is apparently… kind of weird. And yet weirder. But apparently, he’s put out a music album…

I guess all-in-all it’s really weird because you see these people on children’s shows and they sort of develop a never dying… uh… what’s the word… characterized as how they’re these great and wonderful people that are great for children and that’s all they do. A stereotype, I guess that’s what I’m trying to say. Like an actor that does all of the same types of movies and nothing else.

I also find it interesting that they’ve apparently got another guy for Europe to do this show, someone called Kevin? Am I right? At least that’s what some internet page I found said…

Okay, this post just totally went in a different direction than intended…

But I really am thankful for that channel. It’s not that I sit E in front of the tv all the time to occupy him, he doesn’t watch that much really. But he watches in his high chair while he’s eating to keep him from screaming, otherwise, I think he gets bored.
