In the meantime, I had another photo shoot the other day. This time it was engagement photos for my sister-in-law and her fiance. The sun was very harsh but I think we made the best of it. You do what you can when you’ve only got specific days you can do things on, ya know.

And speaking of these two, she’s asked me to shoot their wedding which will be next Spring. I’m excited. It’s going to be an indoor wedding, though, so it’s time I go ahead and invest in a better flash than the pop-up. After talking to several other Nikon owners, I am going to go with the SB-600. There’s also the SB-800, but I think the general consensus is it’s not really much better than the 600, especially when comparing the prices of the two. So now I just need to suck it up and buy it and a diffuser.

I also recently ordered the piano music to Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Inspired by this, my sister-in-law would like to use that song as the processional in the wedding. It’s very beautiful. The music arrived the other day and I’ve played it a few times but I stink, I’m so very out of practice. But that’s okay, because I won’t be playing piano in the wedding. I think they’re going to ask his brother-in-law to play but I don’t know anything about the guy. I guess if no one can play the music, we’ll buy the MP3 on that page. Who knows? She wants live music though, but I think the MP3 sounds better than the music, you almost need someone who knows how to fill it all in and make it sound better, fuller.

So, anyway. :)

Which brings me to something else, what’s with Kenny Chesney not being in the video? Or did I miss him? Are they getting him back for his video about shift work where George Strait sings but isn’t in it? :P

But back to the Reba video. While I think it’s really cool they used Joanna Garcia and Steve Howey for the couple in the video, doesn’t that kind of ruin it for fans of the Reba series? (Insinuates that had the series continued, Van and Cheyenne would have split up.)

Elijah, however, really loves that song!

Every time my phone rings, he starts dancing in the same way and it cracks me up every time. He’s also been known to get a little upset when I answer the phone.

So this morning just to fool with him, I played the whole song from the computer and caught his dancing on video. Please ignore his outfit, he was still in his PJs and those pants are, yes, a bit too short for his long legs.

The really funny thing though was that when I was playing the video on the computer after taking it from the camera, he started dancing again. At times he was in sync with himself on the computer screen, it was almost like having twins. Almost freaky. :)

But I have one thing to say for tonight:

PLEASE get rid of Danny Noriega! How dare he butcher the Great Elvis’ song like that!! I swear, I almost fainted. Plus, he’s just plain annoying. Can we say “Drama Queen”? :P

Also, this guy Luke Menard? They said he’s 29. Last year I KNOW they said the cut-off was 28 (when that elderly man sang). What’s up with that? I don’t have a problem with that, of course, just wondering why they would have, obviously, made a change. And no, I’m not so into it that I visit the websites and stuff. :P

Ugh. Now this Colton guy has to go, too. Granted he didn’t butcher his Elvis song as bad as the other guy, but sheesh.

Neither of us can remember a wedding we went to, before ours, that used a non-traditional recessional. Seems, at least with the people we know, we started a trend.

Our recessional was “Wonderful” by Bleach from their album “Space.”

We had to stop and think, too, about why we did that in the first place. If I remember correctly, Steve wanted the song in but we didn’t have anywhere else to put it! Of course, we kept it “top secret” until the rehearsal dinner and then freaked out our parents with it. :) We were begged to change it but it turned out really nice. So nice that our best man borrowed our CD for his wedding the following week. To think of it now, I don’t know why they’d want to do that, but whatever. :P

Then at a friend’s wedding in 2002, they used “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole

Two of our friends last year used “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”

My brother & sister-in-law used Less Than Jake’s “I Think I Love You”

Another of my friends used one called “You Will Go Out With Joy” but I wasn’t able to find that one. Not even sure who did it, I think it was instrumental and I just remember the title from her program. It sounded like Jewish traditional to me, though.

And the song my sister’s going to use?

“I Love You More Today Than Yesterday” by Spiral Staircase.

Fun stuff. Of course, there’s more, when considering I’ve been to about a thousand weddings in the last 7.5 years but those are just the ones that stand out in our minds.

So that was a nice little trip down memory lane. Those of you who are married (or getting married) – what song did you (or are you gonna) use for your recessional? Traditional or otherwise? I’m curious :)

Yup, that is Sarah! She was 6 or 7 years old, it was sometime in 2002. Probably early-mid 2002, actually. On piano is Sheila who was 12 or 13 at the time.

That was at the small church we went to at that time, we left later that year. The video actually also brings back some not-so-good memories. I’m reminded of some guy who thought he owned everything who I had to fight to get Sarah put on-air instead of his daughter who was on ev.er.y week. But, anyway. Not sure why the audio is so low here unless it has to do with the fact that this came from tape (hence the horrible horrible quality). Oh well! :)
