good to go

So, apparently, even though I have all this time on my hands, I can’t be bothered to post anything all that often. Of course, all this time on my hands also means that there’s really nothing going on!

Yesterday was my last ultrasound until the day I go into the hospital, which is just over a week away. I am still having periods of pure nervousness, and I really don’t know why. I know I’ll be fine. So, whatever. But, anyway, here is the ultrasound picture. They did a 3D (or 4D or something) for the first time.

You almost have to use your imagination to see this one. The baby is upright, looking right at you, feet sticking up in front of her abdomen. She’s still breech, but I guess that’s to be expected.

And I got me some earrings :)
People keep thinking I’m weird that over the last few weeks I’ve been saying I need some earrings. But here, all I had is danglies any more and I can’t wear those in the hospital and I think that 8 weeks in the hospital plus all this other time with no earrings and they might close up. So I wanted some studs I can sleep in and wear all the time. Finally ended up with four pairs yesterday, some gold and some sterling silver, at great prices. :) So now I’m good to go. I guess, haha.

I’ve also installed this this program on the desktop that allows me to do this remote support thing from the laptop. It’s really awesome, TeamViewer, and is free for personal use. And what I’m doing is very personal. I use it to spy on Elijah, lol. He’s only 5 after all, and, for instance, I just heard him yell from the computer, “MOMMY! Come here!” I said I can’t, and he said, “Then look at the computer and see what I did!” He was freaking out because he expanded a toolbar, haha, he gets so neurotic when something unexpected happens on the computer. But with this program, I can just log in and take care of whatever neurosis he has going on without getting up. It’s saved a lot of heartache running back and forth, which I am not supposed to be doing anyway. The only thing it doesn’t help with is my psycho printer which has been freaking out for people lately. Apparently, it thinks it’s much too good to have a used ink cartridge and demands a new one before the refilled one is empty. I hate that. :P

And I just have to LOL
My phone just rang and it was 4 Wheeler Magazine calling for Steve who is unavailable. Those people crack me up. He subscribed for one year several years ago and then decided not to renew it when the time was up. So for something like the past 2 years, they are still sending him magazines as well as RENEW NOW LAST CHANCE mailings constantly. It’s like, can’t they take the hint he’s not going to send in the money? He doesn’t even have time to look at the magazines they do send along with all the other stuff he gets. I think it’s absolutely hilarious and every time I get a LAST CHANCE mailing I say “Good! Go away!” But they never do. :)

I just saw another funny commercial, this time for these things called “clever clasps.” They’re showing a bunch of people who can’t reach behind their heads to clasp their necklaces, or have trouble with their bracelets, too. Then they introduce this ingenious new invention (!!!!): magnets! Four for only $14.99!!!

Um, okay. Heh.

Anyway. These things use claw clasps to connect to your existing claw clasps (assuming you have claw clasps on your jewelry) and then you use the new magnetic clasp. The people are suddenly happy now, because all they have to do now is get the magnets near each other and they connect.

But what they don’t tell you is that it will also extend the length of your necklace or bracelet. I started laughing when I saw the woman spinning a bracelet around her wrist, failing to make the ends meet. Then she adds the magnets and it attaches immediately, of course, but now it’s also too big for a bracelet, having added another two inches to the length. So, while you can get the bracelet on yourself, you’re going to lose it because it’s too big now!

That and… well, did anyone ever think of putting the necklace on with the clasp in front, then spinning it around to where it’s supposed to be once you’ve gotten it attached?

OR! Do what I do and only buy magnetic jewelry for arthritis and such… they already come with magnetic clasps. :) But even funnier? They advertised that during the Veggie Tales show. They want kids to buy these? :P

Sorry, had to waste some time while E’s in time-out. :-)

Monday I had to go up and edit since I wasn’t there on Sunday and it ended up taking me over four hours. Why? I have NO idea! Simply put, after I output the tapes and watched them back, none of the mouths matched the audio. It was so weird. Some setting has to be wrong after our reformat but unfortunately, I don’t know what it is. I ended up having to create a DVD then copy that to the tapes. Ugh. Not something we want to do regularly, of course, so I’ve got to find a solution fast. Unfortunately, I don’t even know where to start looking or what terms to search.

And speaking of computers… my in-law’s computer started acting funny a few weeks ago and I thought it was Windows issues which I fixed. Then last week it just suddenly quit and won’t start up. It doesn’t even get to the point where it can send anything to the monitor or let the CD roms open, etc. An orange light, instead of green, is indicated on the front. Yet I can’t find any decent support for it. So what’s the first thing you would check if it was doing something like that? It’s obviously hardware at this point. Of course, I’m not too worried about it anymore – yesterday my father-in-law went ahead and ordered a new Dell, so… yeah. The computer is just like the one I bought in December to replace my 2004 Dell only their hard drive won’t be as big (I upgraded mine), they’ll be getting a 17″ monitor (I didn’t bother with that since I already had a 15″), they won’t have the card reader, and theirs is cheaper. :P However, I’ve been impressed with myself so far, I will have that computer paid off way before the interest kicks in at the end of the year. So much so that…

I am going to buy a new laptop. Sheila wants mine, haha. She’s starting college this fall, going to be moving in with her older sister and she would like a computer. Makes sense, of course, better than sitting around a computer lab all day. So this will help us both out – she’ll get a good-working laptop with all the programs she needs for college and free maintenance (ha) for cheaper than buying one new, of course, and I will have a good down payment on a replacement system for me. My problem is just that I can’t decide what model to get…

Yesterday I spent the day with some of my friends/neighbors. I had access to the professional video camera and we bought a microphone and went out and started shooting a video the girl wants to do. We didn’t get as far as we’d hoped, though, and it’s getting hot outside fast, so we might carry this over through fall. It’ll be fun though! Can’t wait to edit it. :)

Today I went up to another friend’s house to help her with her website. She’s running the same shopping cart I am and I was able to make minor changes here and there as we went along and she was learning how to put products in and customize them. The jewelry she sells is so customizable, there are many possible combinations, so we have to be a bit creative with the shopping cart. But if you’re interested in some cool jewelry, check out her site: 4wdesigns.com, her most popular items (as I understand it) are functioning in the cart at this point now.

Now I have to start working again on my cousin’s jewelry site. She’s not using a shopping cart, though, and I’ve written her a basic order form with HTML, PHP, and Javascript. It’s not ideal as we keep having to add new things and customizations to it and pretty soon, I keep telling her, she will need a shopping cart – but she’s just starting out and doesn’t want to/can’t put money into that right now, so this will do for the time being. Her website is: angelears.net. She makes these cute little angel earrings which is what she’s concentrating on with the website right now, but some other stuff too (that’s one of the things I have to work with tonight). Of course, you might recognize the site’s design. It was an open source design first then someone made it into a WordPress template, etc. I had seen it forever ago and saved it and when she told me how she wanted her site to look, etc., I knew it would be perfect, and, of course, she loved it. So I modified it for her use, of course

Of course, this is not to mention all the other things I have to do around here… gah! Craziness!
