It all started last Christmas when my brother-in-law asked me to make him a crochet beard. I did but didn’t get to really see him in it, since they’re living across the country right now then he went to Afghanistan shortly after that. But a couple weeks ago, my friend asked me to make him one so I made my first one attached to the hat. It’s so hilarious. These things crack me up. And then I go and post that photo on Facebook and now I have to make 5 more… O_o

Got 3 orders and now Steve has decided he wants one (when before he thought it was stupid haha) and my father-in-law wants a looooong one. Gonna have to figure that one out. Steve wants dreads of his. Nice.

Keepin’ me busy!

Elijah’s been asking for one, too, but I haven’t made him one yet because I’ll have to modify the pattern to fit him and, let’s face it, I’ve got enough to do right now!

Ok, so for quite some time, PayPal has literally been harassing me to try out their Bill Me Later thing. Just sounds like another credit card to me, so it’s not really something I wanted to deal with. The last thing I need is more debt, right? But they were literally driving me nuts and they were telling me that I could get $10 back on my first purchase. So finally, I gave in. I thought, haha, perfect time, when I was spending $10.80 at a digital scrapbook store. I figured, ok $10 off and I’ll pay them their 80 cents “later” (aka in about 10 minutes).

So I went through the process and said sure, sure, ok, whatever. But then I got to the screen that told me I was denied and they couldn’t do my $10 off on this purchase. I figured it was because they didn’t want to give me $10 off a $10.80 purchase. Whatever, paid my $10.80 and was done.

Then about 3 weeks later, I got a letter in the mail. “Dear Valerie…

…We regret that we are unable to approve you for the service at this time for the following reason:

The amount of your purchase required a credit bureau report. We were unable to retrieve a report from a consumer reporting agency.

Our credit decision was based in whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the consumer-reporting agency listed below. You have a right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know the information…

There are a couple of things that I find to be absolutely hilarious about this.

1). The amount of my purchase required a credit bureau report. For $10.80!? $10.80 required a credit bureau report!? That’s hilarious. I understand them wanting to get a report for opening an account period, but the letter states that the amount of purchase is what triggered getting a report. Hilarious.

2). They couldn’t get a report on me. I guess this isn’t all that funny, just #1 is funny. However, it doesn’t make any sense, either, unless the reporter’s site was having trouble sending back the info to PayPal, because I KNOW that they have me on record. I also know I don’t have bad credit (certainly not bad enough to require getting rejected on the basis of $10.80).

I just think the whole thing is funny. I only did it because they’ve been harassing me relentlessly about it and I thought I’d take $10 off my purchase and never use the service again.

Now they’re back to harassing me about trying the service again. I need to find out if there’s a way to say leave me alone regarding the Bill Me Later service…

Got to get a few hours out of the house tonight and spent some time with my awesome sister-in-law. I felt like a total spaz ’cause I had to ask her to drive out of her way to pick me up. Steve’s truck is on the fritz so he’s been taking my vehicle to work. I’m not used to have to rely on people for rides, I either do it myself or I do without. My mother-in-law and other sister-in-law also drove in to watch my kiddos. Of course, I think that’s better, ’cause all their stuff is here and it’s easier for them to get K to sleep here than at their house.

My sister-in-law and I went first to dinner which actually turned out to be hilarious. We went to this place I had a pretty good coupon for, neither of us had heard of it before. Turned out to be this total guy place, like Hooters, only the waitresses dress even more skimpy. So here we are, two females in there, and she is like, “uhhh those people are staring at us…” But the food was good and it gave us jokes to last through the rest of the evening.

From there to the movie and we actually went in and watched it without popcorn or soda! Gasp! She cracks me up because she can eat like a bird at other times but can really put it away during the movies. I give her crap about it but we were both so stuffed this time, we actually managed some willpower. Good thing, too, cause it cost the two of us $25 total to see the movie…

The Green Hornet was my second movie in 3D and we loved it. I don’t know what the reviews said and we have friends that said they really didn’t like it at all, but my sil and I really liked it. Of course it’s not realistic and of course it’s goofy, but hey, it’s a night out to relax. I did really enjoy the humor, though, you know – the gas gun we’ve all seen in the commercials? That was great. And so funny to see/hear super heroes saying “we don’t know what we’re doing!” and acting like real people might do if suddenly thrown into extraordinary situations. Not like Batman, he’s always got it together. I loved how they worked Bruce Lee in, too, the original TV Kato. (At least original as far as I know!) I’d like to see some of the old series, actually. I heard a guy on the radio last week saying SyFy had a marathon of it but, of course, on one told me until the day after…

Well, we had fun. The next one will probably be the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie though I’ve promised Sarah she can go to that one and will probably take Elijah and some brothers, too.

I’ve been sitting here watching Star Wars episode 1 with my boys and now episode 2 is coming on, on Spike TV. We just saw this commercial between the two movies. Cracks me up, I love it!

And, of course, while YouTubing for the above video, I came upon another that’s pretty good:

Too bad Sarah’s on dial-up, she’s gonna love these. Hopefully I’ll remember to show her next time she’s over here.

Oh, then we also have this one, and this one, but I still like the other two best.
