First, I’m highly annoyed that this battery (a 6 cell for my laptop to replace my year old 9 cell that doesn’t really work anymore) doesn’t work. The blasted thing won’t even charge. It started charging and got to 14% then quit. Now it’s stuck at 9%. It’ll go down, of course, but never does it charge up. (My old/current battery, while it doesn’t hold a charge for very long at all, at least it charges.) I emailed the person about this Saturday. And again today, since I’ve had no response despite their claim that they themselves (he himself, whatever) provides a one year warranty on batteries.

And then, they had the nerve to send me this email:

Thank you for purchasing NEW 6-CELL DELL INSPIRON 6400/E1505/1501 GD761 BATTERY. Please leave feedback for me on eBay and I’ll do the same for you. Take this opportunity now and help build a better eBay community.

Is this some kind of automated thing? I really don’t know but I assume that it’s not automated at least to the point that the seller has to say, “hey, send her this email, ’cause I want my feedback.”

I responded that I wasn’t leaving feedback until we worked out the issue that *gasp* the product doesn’t work and I’ve already emailed twice! And then I snidely mentioned how they should have already left feedback for me anyway, after all, I’d held up my part of the bargain: I’ve already paid for the item.

Which brings me to my next point. This has bothered me for years, since I got an Ebay account in 2002.

I hate hate hate hate hate it that power sellers will not leave feedback on a transaction until after the buyer has left them feedback.

I really think it’s downright dirty. Any time I’ve sold something and the buyer has paid up, I’ve left them feedback! Why do these sellers think that they have the right to withhold their feedback until I’ve left them some feedback? Of course, this leaves me wondering on those iffy transactions if I should leave that neutral or negative feedback because what if out of spite they turn around and ruin my 100% rating?

It’s just really aggravated me, apparently, for 6 years now. Just seems to be so dishonest to me.

Guess I’ll keep emailing this guy about the battery not working for the rest of the week and then I guess maybe I can take things up with PayPal (supposedly they’re supposed to back you up in situations like this) and then risk it all by leaving him some negative feedback.

It all really turns me off, though. I had hoped to at least get a somewhat decent battery from Ebay — I know I wasn’t going to get something that was “cream of the crop” but something that was worth $60, or so I’d hoped. I really don’t want to buy a brand new one directly from Dell. The 9 cell (which is what I really want) is $300 and the 6 cell is $150. I have paid off all of my Dell bills and I really don’t want to be adding more to it. But there are situations in which I need some good battery power, something to last me at least an hour and a half, preferably 5 hours like my 9 cell did in the early days! Sigh.

Oh! But also, the auction/buy it now says flat out that it is a DELL battery yet the battery is not a DELL battery it’s something else that fits a Dell computer. That’s false advertising and grounds for a claim, right? This guy has exactly 3.5 days before I start filing claims everywhere. :P

All I can say is… what?

What possesses someone to sell a hotdog on Ebay? What makes them think it’s really, as they call it, “truly an amazing collectable”? And what in the world would possess someone to pay over $270 for this!?!?!?

But it’s true, I actually sold something on E-Bay. Me, wow. All the other feedback on my E-Bay account regarding sold items were things actually sold by my brother or my sister-in-law, using my account. So, wow. I sold something on E-Bay. For more than I thought I’d get for it, too, for twice what E-Bay said the average selling price is for these.

So, good-bye, old friend, you’re packaged and ready to go. I think I’m going to trade you in for a palmOne LifeDrive Mobile Manager. You know, because it says it has software to be able to use Microsoft programs like Word and Excel and it has Bluetooth and a 4Gig harddrive. And, and, and. And I can’t afford what I really want. ;-)

Steve wanted to bid on this vintage Playskool tool bench for E. I’ve bid three times because it keeps going up. I am up past what I have to pay for it. :P

I am going to bed now, tomorrow morning I will come back only to find out I’ve been outbid again, I’m sure. And by then, it’s too late. :P

Anyway…. uh tonight we went to the Thanksgiving service at church. Not sure why they were calling it that though, it was just like any other Wednesday except there were no classes and stuff, just church.

Tomorrow we are going to Steve’s grandma’s and then to my aunt’s. We were just going to go to his grandma’s but now we are going to add my aunt’s too – I miss all them guys and I think Steve wants to talk to my uncles. They seem to have a lot of common interests… guns, hunting, kshe, football, etc.

Elijah is laid down now but he only went down at 10:30, so I have a feeling that he might not stay there long but get back up and need to be fed one more time. We are just staying up way too late, it’s starting to get to me, I think I need some more sleep. But there are some things I have to wait to do until he’s asleep or they don’t get done.

I’m gonna have to get Erin – or well, I would have if I hadn’t been online at the right time. She sent me four HUGE picture files and took my email box from like 12% to 110% – suddenly Yahoo was yelling at me lol. So if you guys got large attachments to send, send them to my holifieldweb.net addy – I have that one set up to receive up to 50 megs, instead of just 6. But also note that all of you with holifieldweb.net addresses do not have 50, just me, heehee. :-) You guys have anywhere from 4 to 10, I don’t remember. Prolly depends on who ya are.

I made dirt cake today. Made two: one to take tomorrow and one for us to leave here. I knew that if I took it somewhere neither Steve or I would get any, so I went ahead and made two. But it’s more like 1 1/2 and a 1/2 lol. (If that makes any sense).

Oohhh, people on ebay make me mad. So I was bidding on this bird’s eye view of Ste. Genevieve (old postcard) – this was the 2nd one – and I had been winning it all week for $7.75. Now, normally I wouldn’t spend that much on a stinkin postcard, but I really really wanted this one. 45 minutes before the auction is over, someone raised the bid to $15.00. I went in there at 15 min before and was like no way am I paying that much. I was so ticked I raised their bid – not much but enough that I knew I would not win the auction but would raise the price. I know, not very nice. But it apparently doesn’t matter to this guy, according to his feedback, he’s bought several postcards at the range of $15-20, just from the few I looked at. I also got outbid on the Veggie Tales Jonah DVD, but that’s okay. Now I am just bidding on the Ste. Genevieve piggy bank from the 50′s – it ends tomorrow morning around 8 I believe. My luck someone will grab that, too, as I’ve been winning all week. Grrr…

“Can you say Hemi?” I hate that commercial, grrrr….
