Sad Day

6 Mar 2004 In: Days Go By

Today is a sad day.

We have some friends, we have not seen them in a long time, but we still consider them friends. Steve has been friends with the oldest for a long time. Anyway, the dad of the family committed suicide sometime in the last week. I don’t know exactly when. Last Friday, apparently, he left and no one had seen him since. He had a history of depression and he and his wife got in a fight and he left – apparently, it’s nothing unusual, but he usually went to his mother’s and then came back after a day or two when his head was clear again. After a few days, the wife got worried and called the police. They had it on the radio, which is where Steve first heard of it the other day. I talked to a mutual friend of ours that day and she gave us the story. Today I talked to her again, and apparently, the oldest son (the one we know best) found his dad, who had committed suicide. I don’t know how or exactly when or where, but it was somewhere near where they live. So of course this is a really hard time for this family. The youngest children don’t know yet (this is a very big family). And of course, even if he had life insurance, it wouldn’t cover in a suicide case, so they are really hard up to pay for the funeral. Not sure when the funeral’s going to be either. But this is very sad, this family needs our prayer.

Other than that…. Read the rest of this entry »

tonight’s fortune cookie

5 Mar 2004 In: Days Go By

You will have good luck in personal affairs.

Yup, that was my fortune in my cookie tonight.

I got it twice, so it must be true…

This is where I talk about random things as well as what interests me: photography, digital scrapbooking, crochet, candle making, history, genealogy, videography, web designing, or whatever else I feel like! I'm also the mother of two, including a preemie, so you'll see updates on that end; finally, I am also a second generation homeschooler, that's bound to come up as well.
