hmmm… what?
I’ve been talking to a lot of people the last few days, and even if I’ve already asked you, I’d appreciate it if you’d leave a comment, too. I don’t want this to turn into an argument or anything, just please, if you would, answer these questions as they pertain to you and your family.
– Will you or have you gotten a seasonal flu vaccine? Your family?
– Why or why not?
– Will you be taking the H1N1 vaccine as it becomes available? Your family?
– Why or why not?
– What other precautions are you taking from getting sick, if any?
– Finally, if you have already had H1N1, please describe your experience.

I’ve only gotten one flu shot in my life and that is when I was pregnant with Alexis and I will never get another again. I’d rather just take my chances and get sick and then get over it. I definitely don’t want my kids getting the flu shot either. As far as H1N1 goes, we will not be getting the flu shot just because of it. I’ve heard too many negative things about the vaccine and it making you sicker than the actual flu does. The only real precaution I’m taking right now is being very selective about the places I’m taking Isabel at this point since she is still so young (3 weeks) and Alexis too since I don’t want her to get sick either.

I will not be getting either vaccination. As for the flu shot, everytime I have gotten one, I got sick right after. I’d rather take my chances. Ha!
As for the H1N1… just don’t see the point!

I will not get a seasonal flu vaccine, but I think my husband is. He is because his company is providing it for free. I am not because I rarely go out right now, and when I do, I have a bit of a germ phobia, so I’m constantly applying hand sanitizer and washing my hands. I’m also very careful not to touch my eyes, nose, mouth.
We probably will not receive the H1N1 vaccine for the same reasons listed above, although we may consider it if my husband’s employer offers it.
In addition, I try to eat a nutrient-rich diet (I said TRY) and I also try to load up on immune building nutrients like Vitamin C. I drink orange juice like crazy, and that usually keeps my immune system strong.
I guess that’s about it!

Hey! How are you doing? :)
– Will you or have you gotten a seasonal flu vaccine? Your family?
——-> I have not gotten a seasonal flu vaccine. My friends have, and one of them said it only takes a few minutes. The arm does swell a bit, and continues to be a bit sensitive for at least 2 to 3 days.
– Why or why not?
——-> Hmmmm, not sure. Maybe I’ll go get it soon.
– Will you be taking the H1N1 vaccine as it becomes available? Your family?
——-> Maybe. It depends on how many loopholes I have to go through to get it. As Jessica, J and Heather mentioned above, the vaccine itself is not yet necessary, in my view, for those who seem to be kind of immune to it. Also, many of us are already in the contaminated areas and have survived, so maybe we do not need it at all. Still, when it rolls out, I will probably do some research on it and then take it, unless I find out that it is very toxic and an overdose to deal with compared to our body immune system which has already kept us alive against the H1N1.
– Why or why not?
——-> The reason majority of the people, including everyone on this site [hopefully] are ok is because our bodies most probably have already fought the flu. People who got the flu and died in the last few months had neighbors and friends that literally touched those infected-people [zombies!!?? 0_0 ] and are perfectly fine, without even signs of a fever. Some bodies are a bit weaker to the flu, and those are the ones that unfortunately got very sick and many ended up dying.
– What other precautions are you taking from getting sick, if any?
——-> Not sure. It seems very contradicting to watch the news or the health bulletins and the actual life around us. Everyone is going around being happy, and even the police in San Francisco, which was supposed to get actual H1N1 gas masks to be worn at all times, seems to not be wearing them from what I have noticed.
I do and am looking for a respiratorrrr for a long time to wear around.
Would you be getting any of the vaccines or injections?

*Bes,
The mask you are looking for can be found at the following link. You want the N95 mask, as it is the one that filters particulate matter as small as influenza germs and mold spores. *smile* Just make sure you get a good, solid seal around your face, or the mask will be less effective.

There are many different styles to pick from.
*Heather,
Hand sanitizer is bed for your health, your children, and your skin. So is anything marked as antibacterial that you are supposed to put onto your skin. While these things are usually effective at killing most germs, they are causing the remaining germs to mutate and become even more resistant to our current emergency disinfection techniques. The more pervasive their use is, the more potentially dangerous our future becomes.

Now for the questions;
– Will you or have you gotten a seasonal flu vaccine? Your family?
I have never gotten a seasonal flu vaccine, and will not get one.
– Why or why not?
The seasonal flu mutates quickly throughout the season, some folks get ill just from the shots themselves, I don’t like needles, and I’m against injecting mercury into my children or myself in order to possibly prevent an illness as simple as flu.
– Will you be taking the H1N1 vaccine as it becomes available? Your family?
Nope, and nope! :D
– Why or why not?
Already had it, it was icky, over it now, know ow to cure it if it decides to mutate and come back for another try at us.
– What other precautions are you taking from getting sick, if any?
We aren’t taking any additional precautions fro our usual hand-washing before and after eating, before and after restroom breaks, and when we return home from a day out.
– Finally, if you have already had H1N1, please describe your experience.
Yes, I’ve already had H1N1. My kids either did not catch it from me, they are immune to it because I don’t over-sanitize our environment, allowing them to have very strong immune systems, or it was exceedingly mild in them.
My experience with the mutated blender flu (H1N1 contains aspects of swine, avian, human Asian, and human European Flu strains) included a day of unexplained sniffles and random sneezing fits, followed by headache, tiredness, fever, and body aches. I have to say the body aches were the worst. Lying on my back, letting the tears run into my ears because it hurt too much to move to wipe them away was a very unpleasant experience. But then I ate a food I had heard cured flu, and 20 minutes later I felt a lot better. *smile* The next day, it was almost as if I hadn’t been ill in the first place, just some slight remaining sniffles from time to time, which stopped by that evening.
All in all, I’d say this new flu is a horrible, terrible thing to endure, but easy to fix. *smile* Not worth getting an (extra) injection over, in my opinion.

Hi again :) So what did you eat? Garlic? :)
Regarding the hand sanitizer, we do use it around here, but I am aware of what you said about it. I don’t use it so much at home, though. We don’t go out much at all but when I have to go to the store or something, or certainly when I need to be in a hospital or doctor’s office, I use and have my son use sanitizer after touching the store’s carts, toys in doctor’s offices, etc.
So did your doctor test you and confirm it was H1N1 or did they just say it was? A lot around here are just assuming it is and not doing the actual tests, so I ask everyone that. :)
