hmmm… what?
Bah, I am so tired of the “I wants.” I mean Elijah and his near-constant whining lately.
Last week, it was humorous, we left Wednesday night church and he stated that we WERE going to Dairy Queen (which is right by church). Sarah and I laughed at him like “oh rllly?” and I drove on by. He got upset and exclaimed that we were going to go to McDonald’s (which we would be passing next). Stopped at that stoplight it was, “please, Mommy, please, please please!?” I passed that and he knew Sonic was coming up so he started whining for that. And when I passed that and headed out of town, he said, “I want to go mooch on your mom.” So it was pretty hilarious, but it gets old.
Tonight it was just the two of us and we hadn’t even left the building yet when he started in on me, “I want a shake.” No. “I want ice cream.” No. “I want…” No, no, no! That led to more crying and whining that he was hungry and thirsty and didn’t want to wait until we got home. Well, sorry, Bud, but I made supper before we left for this very reason.
It’s not only that, but any time we’re at a store where there are toys? Talk about stressful. “Buy me that!” No, I say, and even if I were going to, I wouldn’t buy it with you along and you’d have to wait until Christmas. “But I want a Christmas present,” “I want it now!”
I’m sure it’s just the age and possibly Only Child Syndrome and that things will eventually clear up but in the meantime it’s pretty darn annoying!
But I have to award him for creativity. He made me mad enough tonight that I said no talking, no crying, no nothing until we get home or you’re going to bed without anything as soon as we get home. He was quiet until I started pulling in the garage, then, “I wanted Subway, but you passed it.” We were technically home so he got a peanut butter sandwich and some juice before bed. :P
