Inflating your tires properly can only <a href="http://www.newsweek.com/id/153140" rel="nofollow">account for at most 85%</a> of the gas they'd get from opening more drilling. Still, it seems pretty outrageous to me to scoff at the savings from something we can do ourselves, and trust in the gas companies to do right and drill for us. I think it would be useful to save 3% on gas right now, rather than trusting we'll see a break on gas prices in 20 years when the drilling has progressed to the point we'd see any oil from it. Also, the extent of <a href="http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/newenergy" rel="nofollow">Obama's energy plans</a> are a bit more extensive than handing out air gauges.
