Ahhh yes, well I always undercut myself and I think I'm not good enough to have people squabbling over if my stuff is professional or not so I hope they don't have trouble but I keep thinking of this post by one of my Flickr contacts and figure I'll go ahead and sign something so they can use it if they need to. I wouldn't be surprised if Walmart is the place they go to. I use Winkflash.com and didn't have any trouble ordering my sister's prints for her... of which she still owes me $60 for :P

Okay, that makes more sense. Although, I guess I don't get how if you just hand them a CD how they'll have problems getting them printed. It's not like you're going to make an official design-y CD cover so the peeps at Moto Photo are gonna be all, "Um, no."

Ohhh no no no :)

I WANT to give them the images, that's how I prefer it most of the time and in this case. I suggested that. I'll still own copyright, but I want to sign a form so they can print them without any trouble that may arise. And the model release is my idea, too. I want that so they are aware that I most likely WILL be posting them, maybe in a portfolio, maybe just in Flickr, but wherever. And if I get something really good, I might want to put it up on istockphoto or something and you have to have a model release for that. Not sure about that last part though. This wedding is being thrown together in about two weeks' time and so things have to move quick and I know they don't have a lot of cash. I'm flexible and this gives me just portfolio stuff and I don't plan on doing weddings much if at all - some side cash is nice but I don't think I would ever want to really turn this into a business. I dunno.

Oh and thanks Amber for the reassurances on the teeth :)

I understand the copyright release form, but why do YOU need a model release form? Are you the subject of the photographs? (Answer: No.) If you did use one, it would need to be signed by the subject(s) of your photos, and that is generally used for professional shoots, public shoots (so that guy in the background can't sue you later), and photos that will be used as stock. Weddings don't work like that. This co-worker person needs to rethink their needs. If the model releases are so you can legally use the photos in your portfolio (i.e., advertising), then yes, that is a good idea.

On that note, YOU are expected to give up copyright? No no no NO no! If you're only being paid for gas and time, you SHOULD be holding that copyright in order to recoup your losses. They SHOULD have to go through you to get their pictures printed, and pay printing/reprinting fees. Is this co-worker person really anal or fancy themselves a image-rights expert? Because what they're doing is screwing you over, and you don't deserve that. Wedding photography is difficult, long and often unrewarding work. There is a reason why good ones charge so much merely for their time shooting, and they ALWAYS hold copyright.

I hope he doesn't have to get his tonsils out. He'll only want ice cream & jello. ;)

I need to find a BIG camera bag for my D80. The kit lens on it is huge and I'm looking to get a few other lenses when I get the money.

I got my wisdom teeth out the week after college graduation. It wasn't so bad, to be honest. When I woke up I wasn't in any pain. I had to have some stitches because they broke a tooth while extracting, but they came out on their own. No straws or hard foods. Mainly liquid things: soups and waters. It kind of sucked. And they gave some good pain killers. They told me to sleep when I got home cause I'd be in pain and tired, but I found that I was neither and wanted to get back to normal life. I'm sure you'll be fine. It's better to get them out. I had some pretty bad headaches before I got them out and while I still have them, I don't have them as frequently. Good luck!

I wish my eye doc wouldn't use the puff of air. It always makes me jump. Heh.
