For the most part, I was tired of seeing this:

I was also tired of PHP breaking, email being slow or not arriving at all, stupid issues like domain pointers suddenly pointing to all the wrong places, and canned responses from support… after extended periods of time. It was ridiculous, really.

I tried to stay with them, I really did. But it was clear that since my server had migrated to The Planet, things were just going to keep getting worse. So I finally gave up, even after trying a second server.

So, well, since several of you have asked recently, I thought I’d post a little update without much drama. And where am I now? I went to WestHost.

Now, I will admit that I first moved this site (spoken-for.org) to the WestHost it was experiencing the same slow load times and pages not loading at all, etc. BUT. Even after moving the site from Site5, the server there was doing all the bad things with my remaining sites and other people on the server, so it wasn’t me/this site. Also, now that my site was on hosting that emulates a VPS I was able to see some new stuff in the error logs so after making changes to my httpd.conf regarding MaxClients and one or two other things, the site has been great. In regards to that, even if Site5 were to clean up the server and keep it online, etc., I highly doubt they would be willing to make the changes I did just for me.

I have some to learn yet about this type of hosting but for the most part, everything is set up the way it was. Email is a little bit strange, but I have learned to edit my virtusertable and other things to get it going the way I want. But I am starting to get used to and really enjoy how I can control things better.
