Had the wedding shower for my sister yesterday. It ended up going quite well. Thankfully, I hadn’t been expected to do it all myself! I had help from her friend/maid of honor, my cousin, and my sister-in-law. So it was nice not to have all the burden on myself, especially when it came to the punch, ’cause I really didn’t know what I was doing there. ;-)

Even though the games weren’t my department, I did end up doing multimedia for two games, but that was okay. They turned out cute. The first was a musical thing where we played a clip of a song and the guests got a point for guessing the artist, the song, then there were bonus points if they could pick out which three of the songs are going to be in the wedding. A possible 69 points, the highest score was 22, haha, I absolutely stumped them with a few.

The other was not really a game so much for the guests but before hand I had taped my brother-in-law-to-be (biltb), asking him 15 questions. My sister then had to answer the same questions (they were about him, you see), then we played his response on the big screen. She got 8 out of 15, haha. Everyone got a kick out of it, though.

But yeah, the shower was a good size, I think, about 30 people besides myself, but it wasn’t huge. We had a couple of solid groups of people: family from my dad’s side; family from my mom’s side; friends of my sister; biltb’s mom, sister, step-mom; and some other friends from church or family friends. I guess I was considered the main hostess, which is fine, but I always kick myself later, thinking I wasn’t a good hostess. I try to make sure I get a chance to talk to everyone — even when I’m not a hostess, like with my brother’s recent graduation party — but that’s not always possible, it seems. So later I think, “oh, I should have spent more time talking to so-and-so,” or “I hope so-and-so didn’t think I was rude/unfriendly,” etc. I dunno. I’m just too insecure, I guess.

Oh, one, thing, too, is it’s hard to talk to people you don’t know. Especially when those people look so familiar but you can’t place them. One girl I kept thinking I know her from somewhere and I went over to my friend and asked her if that was the girl that was in that play with her husband, A Streetcar Named Desire, playing the wife. She looked and said she wasn’t sure, but she looked familiar. But then I didn’t get a chance to talk to the girl — they came really late and were some of the first to leave. Ahhh but just got a text back from my sister and she says, nope, not the same girl. :P

The cake up there, though? Matches my bridesmaid’s dress, haha.
