So this aggravates me to no end, and it’s not the first time, either. You know those reply postcards you may get for various things… a magazine subscription, warranty registration, etc. In my case, this past week, it was a reply card for a free book from an organization I support.

I filled out my side of the card, put a stamp on (non-profit, so no postage paid) and dropped it in the mail. The next day, the card returned to me delivered. Apparently, no one can be bothered to look at the side of the postcard that contains the information on where it should be delivered.

In previous times when this has happened, I’ve always had to put it in an envelope, address it, put another stamp on it, and send it in. Really makes you wonder if they are doing this on purpose. You know, because then I pay 41¢ twice with two stamps on two occassions for the same thing when I should only have to pay postcard postage once. Yup, I over pay the first time because I never have postcard stamps, I’m not even sure how much it is anymore.

Why oh why! And furthermore, why can I never remember that this happens every time until I get the card back?

Anyway, this time, rather than putting it in an envelope, I wrote on one side and highlighted: “DELIVERY ADDRESS!!” and on the other “This is NOT the delivery address!!!!”

Let’s see if they get the clue this time or I get it back tomorrow again. Yes, I had to put another stamp on it.

Furthermore, I’m ticked off that four time-dated items I sent in the mail came back to me postage due today. These took over a week to get back to me, so I’m really not sure what the deal is there – and now they’re going to be late. I may be screwed. The thing I don’t get is why they are telling me they cost so much. I put on what I believed to be too much postage. In fact, I’m sitting here looking at something I’ve received in the mail that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt is heavier than all those pieces put together yet the postage is cheaper and it did not travel any farther. Steve says I should re-create one of these things and take it in and see how much they tell me the postage will be and that “if it’s cheaper, to raise hell.” But I’m not sure I have time for that. :P

Well, folks, there’s a rant you know you wanted to read. :P
