hmmm… what?
So earlier today Elijah was grumping while he was supposed to be playing in his room. I was really busy at the time so I said, “You want a cracker?”
“Kaakaaa, kaakaa,” he says, so I gave him one. He started eating it and was happy, going, “Mmmm… kaakaa…. mmmmm.” I watched him eat what I thought was the whole cracker.
Just a few minutes ago I had to go back in his room and put him back to bed, he’s supposed to be taking a nap.
Then I see it. Half of the cracker, uneaten, on his window sill. He had the left curtain pulled back, and was watching as the ants poured in from somewhere outside and there were about 50 or so of them all over that stinking cracker! Maybe that’s why he wasn’t sleeping? (He doesn’t really like bugs, it’s funny.)
So I got a little plate and a big spoon and pulled the cracker on to the plate. Of course, they all went nuts at that second and some started running in circles and others up my arm, from my thumb on the plate. I ran into the kitchen and just doused the plate in running water and my arms up to my elbows.
Yay.
Now we’re going to have ants all freaking over.
Grrr.
We had ants when we first bought this house and put out some traps and they were gone within a week and we hadn’t seen a single one in here again until last month, I guess it was. Put out some more traps and within about two weeks they were gone.
Apparently they’re back. And they love my son.
*sigh*
Suggestions? What’s worked best for you? I don’t mind ants, really, but I don’t want them in my freaking house. It’s just icky. And, surprisingly, for the age of this house, we’ve been pretty bug free. Steve has been pretty good about spraying outside the house and keeping the bugs out, I hardly see a spider, occassionaly I see a dead cricket on the lower room floor.
And. And. AND! My kitchen smells like that stinking Jasmine. I think I’m going to pass out!!

Hm. Our house has some pretty serious ant issues, so we have an extermininator (sp?) come once a month or something and spray things. I have no idea what to suggest for you :P
Aww. I’m sorry. Perhaps you could open some windows and turn on a fan?

wow, I hope you can get your ant prob all fixed, and that they stop bothering your son!
WE usually have bug spray or something and we clean food and the dishes and make sure food’s not lying around… Maybe you should call an exterminator if the prob. doesn’t resolve soon.
Good luck!

Ew, gross, ants! I remember one time, when I was about eight, I left a bottle of gateraide (or however you spell that) in my closet, and a few days later there were ants all in my room! Not sure how my parents got rid of them, sorry. :)

Getting rid of ants…. There’s this liquid ant posion, you put it on cardboard or something and the ants flock to it… kinda looks like honey or something. Corse you’d have to keep it out of Elijah’s reach. I don’t know what it’s called. I think you can probably get it at wal*mart, or lowes, or somewhere like that. I hope that you can figure it out and get the bugs out! :)

We have Terminex come every 3 months. For ant problems he gives us these bait hotels. The ants eat out of it, take it to their nest, and it gets rid of them. They are totally safe around kids/pets. You can get a version of them at the stores–Raid or some such brand.
Good luck!
