hmmm… what?
Practically the first thing we all did on our little get-together today was eat. What else is there?
We went to this place called Yia-Yia’s, which of course, would be Greek for Grandma’s. If I were to write a review for the place, I think I’d say something like this:
The food was absolutely marvelous — seasoned and cooked just right, it tasted wonderful. But I still left hungry.
Yeah, that part sucked. Wouldn’t have been so bad if the food was cheaper, but it wasn’t. We did pass the camera around the table though. ;-)
K felt the same way as me, but C had gotten much more food than the two of us and she couldn’t even finish hers, it was totally weird the way that was handled.
We then went over to The Butterfly House. This is, of course, in St. Louis, but in all my life I don’t think I’ve ever been there. It was quite interesting. They have small exhibits and such out in the main area and then you can go into the green house type of thing where it is extremely hot and humid and there are probably hundreds of butterflies flying around. It was awesome.
I took photos, of course, but more were blurry than not. I will attach some of the better ones however. (You’ll have to see the bottom of this post.) But it was totally neat to have them all just flying around. Some of them weren’t afraid of us at all and we were able to get really close to them (no touching though, of course) while others would take off before you were within 3 feet of them. There were also some tiny quail birds running around, they were so dang cute. They weren’t too scared either and would just walk across the path not caring if someone were to step on them or not.
And while the butterflies and birds were so beautiful, I think the grossest thing I saw today was the big aquarium full of millipeeds. HUGE ones, too. They were so gross I didn’t take a photo… or of the spider as big as my hand, or the scorpions, or the other strange bugs that were absolutely huge.
We walked around the park a little bit, and got to see the carousel, too. Then we left and headed back to our area, getting some dessert at Steak ‘n’ Shake. Returning to our cars, we said we’ll have to do something like this again, and we went our separate ways.
I headed to the store for a few things for tomorrow then went home. At home I found the messiest toddler I’ve ever seen… well, almost. He had chocolate all up and down his right arm and across his face and his clothes were nasty. He was even worse after I tried to get him to eat supper. So I threw him in the bathtub. He played for a while and then right before I went to start this post he started screaming. He had tried to open his tub of clothes that don’t fit him yet and had gotten his left thumb stuck between the lid and the tub itself. I went in there and he was shaking his hand trying to get it loose. He’s in bed now that he’s calm again… nothing’s broken, he’ll live.
And I’m… bored… there’s so much I could be doing but I just don’t feel like doing anything. Maybe I’ll go to bed early and actually get some sleep tonight… yeah, sounds good to me.
Oh yeah, the food… the first is mine, the 2nd C’s, and the 3rd is K’s. I got the salmon (yummy), C got the chicken, and K got the beef tenderloin. We all had an appetizer of hummus and some chicken. I’ve never had hummus before, it was quite good. I showed Steve the pictures and he saw mine (it was the first we took all day) and said, “Ewwwwwwww.” Haha. I was quite surprised though that I actually turned over beef for fish! What has happened to me!!?!
Now, if you can’t already see the photos, there are 12 of them total, then click the comments link and scroll up a bit… These are small resolution due to me posting too many photos. If you want to see bigger, ask or they’ll probably all eventually end up on my photoblog. :)

Nice to see that you had a good day, no wonder you are tired :) Butterflies are so beautiful, I love to watch them fly around in my garden come summer. A whole house filled with them sounds like fun and amazing – that way you can have a good look at them without them being dead…..
I’ll mail you later, now I have to run :) have a service at noon. Have a good day! *hugs*

Sounds like you’ve got an awesome day today :P..hehee, you should get more sleep =). The pictures are lovely! The butterflies are pretty too hehe. I like the sight where butterflies just flutter their free way and don’t care about people. I hadn’t seen that for ages hehe.. the last time I saw it was in Niagra xD ah well.. hehe. I would sure love to see them in st. louis.. hehe .. but I guess maybe.. one day =T

The food looks too fancy for me. Fancy restaurants are freaky. It sucks when it’s so expensive. I’m glad you liked it though! That’s funny, did you just decide to go for something different (not beef)? Some bugs are really big! Hah hah, Elijah and his chocolate! I’m glad his thumb is okay. Remi got her foot stuck in a container the other day. She made lots of noises indicating she didn’t like that very much. Ferrets, they are permanent two years old you know. :)

Aw, don’t you hate it when expensive places serve dishes that you can swallow in one bite? Like yeesh, give me what I paid for!
I’ve never been to a butterfly house. That must be cool! Although, I don’t think butterflies are very pretty up close in real life (I don’t think any insects are) but they’re nice in pictures and from a glimpse.
Eeks! Scorpions?? Yikes. I’d be scared of those.

I LOVE the butterfly house. So relaxing!! Did you know that htere is a lot of history connected to the carosel? It used to be at the Highlands until the Highlands caught fire and burned. They then moved the Carasol to Sylvan Springs park where it remained for many years (I remember riding it every summer and every year at our school picnic). They then moved it to Faust Park to preserve it, and there it has been ever since. I LOVE just riding the merry go round. It reminds me of my youth. Glad you had fun.

Sounds like good times. Hope it will happen soon.
